Stamped Concrete in Colorado Springs, CO

Stamped concrete is one of our most popular decorative options in Colorado Springs - it gives the look of natural slate, ashlar, cobblestone, brick or wood plank for about half the installed cost of real stone or pavers, and it's a single solid slab with no joints for weeds to grow through. We install stamped concrete patios, driveways, walkways and pool decks across Colorado Springs and El Paso County.

Our stamped process: we pour standard 4-inch (patio) or 6-inch (driveway) concrete with integral color, broadcast a contrasting release color across the surface, then press in your chosen pattern using polyurethane stamps before the slab sets. After cure we power-wash the release residue and apply a high-solids acrylic sealer with non-skid additive.

We carry every major stamp pattern - Roman slate, English cobble, ashlar, random stone, herringbone brick, wood plank, seamless texture and many more. During estimates we bring physical color and pattern samples so you can see exactly how your slab will turn out. See colored concrete for color-only options and decorative concrete overview for an explanation of all our finish methods.

Stamp Patterns We Carry

Roman slate is our most popular - a clean, modern slate texture in 6-foot wide stamps. English cobble looks like old-world rounded stone. Ashlar slate has random rectangular stones in varying sizes. Random stone is a freeform natural-stone pattern. Herringbone brick gives a tight, classic look. Wood plank stamps mimic 4 to 6-inch wide weathered planks. We can also do seamless texture (no pattern, just stone-like surface) for accents.

Color Strategy

Stamped concrete gets its richness from layered color: an integral base color mixed into the concrete at the truck, then a contrasting release color broadcast onto the wet surface before stamping. The release does double duty - it prevents the stamps from sticking, and it leaves variegated color in the grout lines and recesses, which is what makes stamped concrete look genuinely like stone. Final color depth comes from the sealer, which deepens the tone by 20-30%.

The Stamping Process Step-by-Step

(1) Pour the slab to the right depth on a prepped base. (2) Float and screed level. (3) Apply integral color or broadcast color hardener. (4) Broadcast release agent (powder or liquid). (5) Press polyurethane stamps into the still-plastic concrete in sequence. (6) Detail joints and grout lines with hand tools. (7) Allow to cure 24-48 hours. (8) Power-wash to remove excess release. (9) Acid-etch if needed for sealer adhesion. (10) Apply two coats of high-solids acrylic sealer with non-skid additive.

Maintenance Reality

Stamped concrete is durable but it's not zero-maintenance. The slab itself lasts 30+ years. The sealer needs refreshing every 2-3 years - this is when stamped concrete looks dull, and a $1.50-$3 per sq ft reseal job brings the color and depth back. Skip the reseal too long and the color hardener can wear through in high-traffic areas. We send Colorado Springs clients a reseal reminder at the 30-month mark.

Stamped Patios

Most popular - 12x16 patio is a common Colorado Springs project.

Stamped Driveways

Full driveway stamps - high impact curb appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions

Like any concrete, stamped slabs are designed to crack at saw-cut control joints. The pattern itself helps disguise hairline shrinkage cracks. With proper installation cracking is minimal and rarely visible.

$18-$28 per square foot installed. A typical 12x16 stamped patio in Colorado Springs runs $3,500-$5,400.

We add a non-skid aggregate to the sealer to address slip resistance, particularly important on Colorado Springs pool decks and front-step landings.

Every 2-3 years for high-traffic areas like driveways. Patios can go 3-4 years between resealings.

Localized damage can be patched and re-stamped, though matching color and texture takes a skilled hand. For widespread damage, full replacement is usually the better option.
