Sidewalk Replacement in Colorado Springs, CO

Sidewalk Replacement services in Colorado Springs, CO

Sidewalk Replacement in Colorado Springs, CO

When a concrete sidewalk has multiple cracked, sunken, hollow or spalled slabs, repair is no longer the cost-effective answer - it's time for full sidewalk replacement. Our team handles complete sidewalk replacement projects across Colorado Springs, from a single 5-by-5 panel to entire block frontages, including all City Engineering coordination.

Replacement starts with a clean demo: we saw-cut the failed sections at the nearest expansion joints, break out the old concrete, haul it away, and re-grade the sub-base with fresh compacted stone. Then we form, reinforce, pour and finish a brand-new code-compliant slab.

If you've received a violation notice from the City of Colorado Springs or a code-enforcement letter, replacement is often the only acceptable solution for slabs with vertical lippage greater than 3/4 inch, hollow sections, or major D-cracking. We can usually have a Colorado Springs property compliant within two weeks of your call.

  • Saw-cut, demo and removal of failed concrete sidewalk panels
  • Sub-base re-grading, compaction and 3/4-inch Class 6 road base replacement as needed
  • New 4-inch (residential) or 6-inch (commercial) reinforced pour
  • ADA-compliant cross-slope and curb-cut updates where required
  • City of Colorado Springs right-of-way permit pull and final inspection coordination
  • Clean haul-off and full site restoration

When Replacement Is Smarter Than Repair

The decision tree is fairly simple: if a single slab is cracked or has a 1/4 to 3/4 inch trip hazard, sidewalk repair via grinding or slab lifting is usually enough. If multiple adjacent slabs are cracked, settled, hollow-sounding, or have surface delamination, replacement is the better long-term value. We always do an honest on-site walkthrough and tell you which approach makes sense - including which slabs we'd preserve and which need to come out.

Demolition Process

We saw-cut at existing expansion joints with a wet diamond blade, then break the slab into manageable pieces with a hydraulic breaker. The old concrete is loaded onto our roll-off and hauled to a Colorado Springs-area concrete recycling facility, where it's crushed into recycled Class 6 base aggregate. The sub-base is then re-graded - we add fresh stone if any was contaminated or eroded, and re-compact to the original density.

Reforming, Pouring, Finishing

Once the base is ready we reset forms, install rebar dowels into the adjoining slab so the new section moves with the old, and pour 4,000-PSI air-entrained concrete. We screed, float, edge, tool joints and broom-finish on the same visit. The new slab is barricaded for 24-48 hours, fully cures over 28 days, and gets a sealer at the 30-day mark.

City Notice Workflow

If your sidewalk replacement is being driven by a City of City concrete inspection notice or code-enforcement letter, we know the workflow cold. We pull the sidewalk permit, schedule line-and-grade and final inspections, and submit the inspection paperwork as part of every project. You don't have to call the city - that's our job.
