Concrete Patios in Colorado Springs, CO
A concrete patio is the most cost-effective way to add usable outdoor living space to a Colorado Springs home - and it's tough enough to handle our four-season climate without the maintenance headaches of pavers or wood decks. We design and pour custom concrete patios across Colorado Springs, with finish options ranging from a simple broom finish to fully stamped slate or ashlar patterns.
Every patio is poured at 4 inches with fiber-mesh reinforcement on a compacted Class 6 base, with a 1-2% slope away from the house for drainage and saw-cut control joints to manage shrinkage cracks. We finish with your choice of broom, salt, exposed-aggregate, integral color, broadcast color hardener, or full pattern stamp - see our stamped concrete and colored concrete pages for finish samples.
All concrete patios are sealed 30 days after pour with a breathable acrylic that protects against staining and freeze-thaw scaling. We recommend re-sealing every 3-4 years.

Layout & Drainage
A good patio starts on paper. We measure the available space, account for setbacks, drainage paths and any existing structures (gas lines, downspouts, AC units), and propose a layout. Standard practice is to slope away from the house at 1-2% (about 1 inch per 8 feet) so rainwater doesn't pool against the foundation. For multi-level patios we form step-downs or low retaining walls to manage grade transitions.
Base Prep & Reinforcement
We excavate to a uniform depth, install 4 inches of compacted Class 6 base, and place fiber mesh reinforcement in the concrete itself. For larger patios (over 300 sq ft) or patios that will support a hot tub or fire feature, we add a #3 rebar grid on chairs at mid-slab depth. Control joints are saw-cut within 24 hours, no more than 30x the slab thickness apart.
Finish Options Explained
Broom finish - the lowest cost; clean and simple. Salt finish - rock salt is broadcast on the surface and washed out after cure, leaving a pebbled texture. Exposed-aggregate - the top layer of cement paste is washed out to expose the stone underneath, giving a natural look. Stamped - patterns impressed into the wet concrete to mimic slate, brick or stone. Integral color - pigment mixed into the concrete at the truck. Broadcast color hardener - a denser, richer surface color used under most stamped patios.
Add-Ons We Pour
Built-in fire pit pads, hot-tub pads, outdoor kitchen slabs, paver-to-patio transitions, integrated lighting conduits, and decorative borders. Talk to us during the estimate - we can usually incorporate these add-ons at the same pour for far less than separate visits.

Concrete moves with temperature - that's why we cut control joints. Saw-cut joints concentrate any shrinkage cracking inside the joint, where it isn't visible. The slab itself stays sound.
